Then, I put the MX5000's USB receiver back in and booted up. No recognition by the PC (my keyboard no longer displays date, time, etc). Most incredibly, no more issues.
With Vista alone, amnd without Setpoint, it is working beautifully. All of the FAIL of the Bluetooth incarnation is due to the "Setpoint" software. No lag, no drifitng cursor, nothing.
I'm a seasoned user of the Logitech Laser combos: I own 2 MX3100s and now 1 MX5000.This Bluetooth incarnation (MX5000) had been incredibly buggy and frustrating, including Setpoint continually failing. So, I decided to start over and uninstall Setpoint. Vista had everything built-in.No "connect" buttons have been pushed on either the keyboard or the mouse.
The units work fine- it's the heavy front end that has caused tens of thousands of customers untold misery and grief.FAIL, Logitech. I used Revo Uninstaller to wipe clean Logitech files from my Vista PC, including the Registry.
I expected to have to install Setpoint to proceed.Wrong.My mouse and keyboard work perfectly, and there are no Logitech files whatsoever on my PC (I know what I'm doing and have checked this).
the mouse runs dry pretty quick but works very well and precise. the low battery warning would come on randomly.
works about 75% of the time. the set point program suck.
The BT adapter opens up options for me. it glitches alot-it would disconnect and can't reconnect(there's 3 tricks to reconnect it, and 1 of them always works).
it's been l;ike 2 year in and it's still working, so that's really good. Just love it.
the key board, i hate.
I think both these problems are related to being Bluetooth so my next mouse and keyboard will probably be wired. Also the keyboard will randomly decide to get stuck on certain keys and just continue to type them as if I'm holding them down but the key itself isn't stuck, it's like it lost connection mid-sentence and decided to just keep going. I've had the MX 5000 for almost 2 years now and I'm very disappointed. For no apparent reason the mouse will suddenly "slow" and drift from where it should be pointing.
Here is My Review about Logitech Cordless Desktop MX-5000 Laser,I'm giving It a 5 Star Rating.,Its a Dream to Use and I Love using it,My Other Mouse was not as good and I hated using it.Also I may add that I Love doing Business with Amazon.com & I will Do Business with Them again.A Satified Customer,Philip McCoy
